The Assessment Process

Our full CITB SMSTS training course in Chelmsford extends over 5 days. Exercises and case studies will be used to assess the performance of each candidate, and a final examination will need to be undertaken at the end of the course.

In order to obtain the Construction Site Manager’s Safety Certificate, 100% attendance is required. Participants will need to attend every workshop and training session in chronological order to ensure they have met all of their course objectives.

Candidates will receive a certificate after successful completion of the course. This certificate is officially valid for 5 years, but it is recommended that the candidate undertakes an SMSTS Refresher Course no longer than 3 years after completion of the initial training course. This is because legislation, technology and cultural behaviours are continually changing within the construction industry.
